What is web design?

Web design is a process whereby people create and design websites. Initially, websites were designed for desktop computers and laptops, but after the introduction of smartphones and tablets, web designers started to create websites for these different devices. Nowadays the job of a web designer is to make the websites as user friendly as possible.

What is the layout?

A web designer plans the initial skeleton of the website called layout. Once the initial layout has been created, the next step would be to make it more appealing to the eye, i.e., designing the site’s appearance. This is also with respect to the overall feel of the entire webpage. The layout is particularly important as it attracts the consumer to the website.

What is appearance?

Appearance relates to the website’s visual aspect, i.e., fonts used, colors of text, and various images to make the site more appealing. Once the presentation has been handled, next comes the content. To make the website more user-friendly and less confusing, many webpages are designed with simplicity and are concise with no irrelevant information, which could confuse users. Good web design is one that is easy to use, that has an appearance that is captivating and content that is not excessive. Moreover, the designer must keep in mind the target audience (for whom the website is to be designed). The designer makes use of different applications and programs to achieve an appearance like Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Fireworks, and many others.

What are the types of designs?

For websites to work well on both computers and mobiles, standard methods like responsive and adaptive design are adopted. In responsive design, the layout of the website changes concerning the size of the screen you are viewing it on, and content adjusts to your screen correctly. Whereas in adaptive design, the website’s content is fixed in layouts that match standard screen sizes. Having a consistent layout is vital to keep up user trust and engagement.

Websites are made up of coded language called HTML, and this language is used to design the structure and layout of the website. For styling and changing appearances, CSS style sheets are used. To add advanced interactivity to the site, JavaScript is used. These three languages are the building blocks for almost all of the websites. The web designer must have a good grasp of these languages to create and design an astounding webpage.

It is important for many new companies and brands to advertise their products. One of the best ways would be through a well thought out and well-designed ada compliant website. Consequently, job opportunities can be created for web designers for these companies. Web designing has become very easy to learn now. If someone is interested in learning web designing, it is possible to do so through online courses and if one cannot afford an online course, he can always go on YouTube to acquire said skill, with no cost at all.
